"Government ought to be all outside and no inside. . . . Everybody knows that corruption thrives in secret places, and avoids public places, and we believe it a fair presumption that secrecy means impropriety." - Woodrow Wilson
unquestioned
unresolved
what you don't know enslaves you
all hail the all seeing eye
shines like a light in this sea of darkness
a false hope
a better tomorrow
preaching safety
while denying its blindness
these chains are fashioned of secrets
while they tell us that we are free
"what you don't know will never hurt you"
words, like ash, offered up as a guarantee
we created this monster
circling closer in the dark
it knows our every weakness
its talons buried in our hearts
our hands stained with ink
like the blood of the martyrs
we peal back the curtain
revealing the visage behind
no benevolent sovereign
just a self serving demon
we've fed with our hopes and our fears

Empires Of Sand
02:01
|

Empires Of Sand
you raise your fists like a martyr
but the blood won't wash off your hands
you wield your cross like a weapon
breaking backs of the already damned.
(while your city lies in ruins)
who is this god that you've created
you speak in his name but have never seen his face
i will no longer stay silent in the shadows
while you preach a doctrine built on hate
i've seen you on your knees
in your monuments to built to excess
with your holy books in hand
praying for the strength to kill
all you don't understand
who made you judge and jury
who gave you the power of life or death
you've run the streets red with blood
and stained these whitewashed walls with innocence
i will not serve your god of hate
tear down these walls
we'll burn this city to the ground
we'll burn this city down

The Propagandist
"No matter how big the lie; repeat it often enough and the masses will regard it as the truth." - John F. Kennedy
who needs proof
who needs evidence
just blind acceptance
of everything you're told
you are part of the machine
force-fed (a diet of) fear and hate
you spit fire
but only self-immolate
these hammers that you wield
only serve to crucify yourself
reguritate everything you consume
your words just an empty shell
you are not the sacrificial lamb
your speech is just an echo
made of half truths and empty cries
you speak with venom and hatred
you talk of change while spitting lies
vitriolic
parasitic
you cut off your nose despite your face
indocrinated
fabricated
there is no truth within this place
all talk
and no action
all smoke
with no passion
this rhetoric that spills from poisoned lips
who needs proof
who needs evidence
just blind acceptance
of everything you're told
repeat everything you're told
so you scream your lungs out
and you swing your fists full of hate
but your empty words mean nothing
your empty words mean nothing

Brave New World Order

Brave New World Order
"...most men and women will grow up to love their servitude and will never dream of revolution." - Aldous Huxley
false sense of security
underneath this blanket of fear
so content and so complacent
(turn a blind eye to their tears)
unwilling to question
the established truths
a history written by the victors
built on broken bones and shattered lives
FED ON LIES
(we're) BRED TO BLEED AND DIE
FED ON LIES
(we're) BRED TO BLEED AND DIE
TO BLEED AND DIE
tune out
buy in
the consumer has become the consumed
marching on to the killing fields
feed the masses
(the consumer has become the consumed)
this is our future encased in this casket
buried six feet deep
(under our hopes and dreams)
slaves to all that we have become
our blood powers the machine
we will stand
we will fight
we will not bow to these new gods
of power and gold
a new world order
armed to the teeth
(keep the faithful caged)
face the firing squad
set fire to the system
(rotten from the inside out)
as olympus falls

Brighter
02:32
|
|||
Brighter
a life spent in darkness
this is for the broken hearted
this is for those held down
the lost and the hopeless
there is hope
there is hope for a city in flames
don't let them hold you back
don't let them hold you down
we will make a change
though the world burns
we will be the fire
a light of hope in darkness
and maybe we won't be everything
that you wanted us to be
but we won't let that darken
this light that burns inside
we've been yearning for the sunlight
but have spent our lives in darkness
so comfortable
sheltered
safe
here in the unknown
it's time to take back our lives
time to face our fears head on
no turning back
step out into the light
WE WILL BURN BRIGHT AS THE SUN
we will make a change
though the world burns
WE WILL BURN BRIGHT AS THE SUN
WE WILL BURN BRIGHT AS THE SUN

Like Hands That Strike A Clock
you've stolen everything you wanted
leaving a sea of broken bodies in your wake
sucked the marrow from the bone
just a shell remains
this house has become a prison
afraid of the dark
the shadows rise up like specters and monsters
she is fighting for her life
they were more than just bodies
they were more than containers of skin
they were not yours for the taking
these broken hearts will never mend
and i hope you're haunted by the ghosts of those you've broken
sleepless nights and tortured days
no rest for the wicked
no redemption
no peace
(but this is a life reclaimed)
no more cowering in the darkness
she smiles through blood and crooked teeth
this is freedom
no more abuse
struck down
you are the cancer
you are the scourge
you are pariah
you are the coward
you deserve nothing less than to have everything you love stripped away

Collateral Damage
02:47
|
|||
Collateral Damage
this is war
just keep your head down
and stay in line
they said
speak softly and carry a big stick
but now it's
be silent (keep silent) and speak with your fist
----------------------------------------------------------------------
he just wanted to be all that he could be
to mean something to his growing family
sent out of the trenches
and onto the front lines
he can see the enemy every time he closes his eyes
as the days drag on
and the bodies reach the sky
the bombs fall on the guilty and the innocent alike
and he thinks to himself
with his fingers stained with blood
“what have we become?
there’s no such thing as a just war
just the rich profiteering while destroying the poor
fighting holy crusades
in the names of unknown gods
until the innocent dead fill the desert with shallow graves”
the night is on fire
and bombs scream through the air,
the ground explodes beneath his feet
and with tears in his eyes, he cries
“now i'll never see the face of my daughter
my little girl will grow up never knowing her father
how many families have i turned into martyrs
i’ve killed their sons, their wives and their mothers
how many more will have to die
(for) this freedom that is not free
our nation's stained with blood
what have we become?”

Don't Give Up The Ship
01:49
|

Don’t Give Up The Ship
This ship is sinking
But this is not the end of the line
I can’t tell you what the future holds
I can’t tell if it will be all right
Just hang on to the driftwood
There’s help in sight
There’s so much yet to live for
If you make it through the night
Hold on
This is not the end
Move on
This is not the end
This is not a wall
It’s a door
Move through it
This is not the end
This is not a wall
It’s a door
Move through it
This is not the end
This ship is sinking
But there’s land in sight
This ship is sinking
But there’s land in sight
Don’t give up the ship
Don’t give up the ship
Don’t give up the ship
Don’t give up the ship

When Dreams Become Nightmares
“Civil disobedience is not our problem. Our problem is civil obedience. Our problem is that people all over the world have obeyed the dictates of leaders…and millions have been killed because of this obedience…Our problem is that people are obedient all over the world in the face of poverty and starvation and stupidity, and war, and cruelty. Our problem is that people are obedient while the jails are full of petty thieves… (and) the grand thieves are running the country. That’s our problem.”— Howard Zinn
we sunk our roots into the soil
and worked our fingers to the bone
never doubting for a moment
that this place would be our home
for fourty years a blue collar slave
and they took everything, everything he ever gave
he was a husband, a faithful father, provider
(just another faceless piece in the lifeless machine)
he watched his dreams turned to cinders before his eyes
two kids, a house, a loving wife
a life of no regrets
and it all came crashing down around him,
brick by brick
where do you turn when there is nothing left
where do you turn when there all hope is gone
NO HOPE
just another victim of this nation of corporate greed
the american dream is a lie
the ones with the biggest and the best , in the end they still all die
the american dream is a lie
the system is crumbling from the inside
refuse, resist
fight with your mind and not with your fists
wash away the years of lies, of guilt, of abject shame
we will stand against tyranny, we must be the change
